Memorial Dedications

Memorial Tree Program

The Memorial Tree Program was developed by the Crete Park District as a means of remembering loved ones, friends, or special events. Persons or organizations can donate money for the purchase of a tree.   Under the Crete Park District Memorial Tree program, the Crete Park District plants a 2" or 3" caliper tree at one of our parks where it is needed the most.  Shade trees include species such as oak, maple, linden and pear.  Evergreen trees include pine and spruce.  Other trees and bushes are available upon request.  The trees will be planted either in the spring or fall of each year as weather permits, depending on the species of tree. Cost for a Tree Memorial including purchase, delivery, installation and upkeep is $200.  To make arrangements, please call Andy at (708)672-6996.  Once previous arrangments have been made for type of tree and location, you can pay the fee online by registering for the Memorial Tree Program.

Memorial Bench Program

Through the Memorial Bench Program, friends and relatives can provide a unique dedication to loved ones by placing a bench in one of the beautiful parks within our District.  The historical dedication provides a lasting rememberance in honor of a loved one and enhances the meaning of a bench to observers.   Exact location will be coordinated at the time of purchase. Benches require an 8-10 week lead time and will not be installed in the winter months.  The Crete Park District bench is a standard 6 foot recycled plastic bench that has proven to be very durable. We use this bench to maintain consistency throughout our parks. A 2" x 4" plaque will be attached to the backrest.  The length of the message is restricted to up to three lines.  Cost for an engraved park bench, including purchase, delivery, installation and upkeep is $450.
